There are lots of great road, trail and mountain races in New Hampshire, some only a short drive away. With careful planning, you could race twice every weekend! In fact, it sometimes feels that I’ve done that for the past few months.

This is a fun 3.6 mile trail race with rolling hills. It only has 500ft of elevation gain, so this is great for both beginners and folks who want to run fast!
A road 5k with a few small hills. Not a PR course, but a fun little 5k.

Held at Derryfield Park in Manchester, NH, these races take place after the high school jamboree in the morning. There are competitive races for both men and women, as well as two community waves for those just looking to run.
Part of the Western NH Trail Running Series
, this is a fast and fun 5.5 miler with only 530ft of elevation gain. You’ll get lots of flat and fast running in this race!
Part of the new All Terrain Runner
series, this is a road 10k with slight rolling hills, benefiting the Beverly School for the Deaf.
Not for the faint of heart, plan on doubling your half marathon time for this beauty! Speaking of beauty, you’ll get plenty of it, as the incredibly technical terrain will slow you down enough to appreciate the views.
This is one of the only European-style Fell races held in the US! There is both a short course, and a long course. The short course is marked from checkpoint to checkpoint, but for the long course, you must navigate and find your own route! Hit the link for more details about this race and Fell racing in general.
A 3.66mi race with a big hill in Windsor, VT. Drawing large crowds of over 1000 runners, there is free beer and brats after the race, as well as a nice finishers stein.
A technical and scenic course in a former volcanic site. you’ll traverse a massive boulder field, tear through dense forest, hammer down single-track switchbacks, jump streams, cross bridges, and ascend the Devil’s Staircase. Available in both a short course (5 miles) and a long course (11.4).
A half marathon (or 5k) in Hanover, NH, benefiting the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
